Invest In Yourself | 060

by | Jun 28, 2020

* Full transparency: I am not trying to sell you on my coaching right now. The following simply needs to be understood.*

The pursuit of fitness can mean different things for different people.

What holds true among all, however, is that working with a (legitimate) Fitness Coach can do far more than simply get you in shape.

If you claim that you want a coach but can’t afford a (good) Coach, you are in some way or another saying that you are not ready to invest in yourself.

Not ready to prioritize yourself.

Which. Is. Fine.

But you’ve got to be honest with yourself and the trainers you talk to and just say you’re not ready.

It’s not about the exact amount of money.

It’s really not.

I have spoken with so many people that say things like, “I really need the help. I would pay for a trainer 7 days a week. But I literally have like $100 dollars in my bank account.”

Meanwhile when I ask them about their social life, that same person tells me that they go out every Saturday night and have about 5 drinks. In New York, 5 drinks a week every week comes out to about $400 a month on alcohol.

Roughly the price of a great trainer.

Something doesn’t add up.

And if that person values those drinks with friends and it is a meaningful part of their life, then I’m glad to hear it.

But it’s important to know that they CAN afford to invest in themselves and the trainer that they say they want. They’re just putting their resources in what they care about more.

The right coach will be worth the investment.

A great coach will work with you like a teammate.

They will lift you up when you’re feeling broken.

They will be on call when you need help.

They will teach you lessons that carry far beyond the gym.

A good coach has the ability to help you believe in yourself, think bigger, and push the limits on what you thought you were capable of.

In your fitness.

In your business.

With your family.

All of it.

Fitness is really just life.

Ups and downs. Heavy resistance. Testing your mind, your body and your emotions.

It does it all.

If a great coach can teach you to think bigger and push your limits with your fitness, you may just create the confidence and the habits to do more in every area of your life.

Sounds pretty important, doesn’t it?

Once again to clarify, I am not saying everyone needs a coach at this very moment.

I am in no way whatsoever saying that people don’t struggle financially, and that everyone should have the money right this second to work with someone.

What I am saying is that we need to take a serious look at what we do spend our time, energy and money on.

Those things should match up with our excuses.

What I mean is that if you say you “would love a trainer but literally can’t afford it,” and then are spending $100’s a month on dumb shit to impress people that you don’t even care about, please rethink the excuse of “I CAN’T afford training.”

You can, you just don’t want to prioritize it among other things.

Which, once again, is fine and is none of mine or anybody else’s business.

Just be honest with yourself and with those that you speak to.

If you hate your body.

Or if you don’t know which plan to follow.

Or if your emotions keep hurting you.

Or if you need help in any way, know that there are a TON of incredibly caring coaches out there that want to help you change your life and will do whatever they can for that goal.

But you won’t be able to change unless you invest in YOU. Maybe with money, maybe not, but you need to take care of yourself first and foremost.

If you want the help, I’m here.

If we’re not a great fit or you want somebody else, that’s great. Maybe I can point you in the right direction.

Once you’re ready for this, we’re here.

All you have to do is ask.

* Final note: I tried my best to convey all points with clear context. If I missed something and that results in you being “triggered” by what I’m saying, I apologize. DM me and we can clear things up.

If I missed nothing and you are still feeling “triggered” because this relates to your excuses, then I hope you’ll find the true meaning sooner or later. My intentions are good.

If you are one of the few who do understand this post and are brutally honest and open about what you prioritize, thank you so much.

Either way, thank you all for reading.*
