I believe everybody should be doing a daily check-in (whether with me as your coach, another coach, a family member, a friend, with yourself, or a combo of the above).
One of the simplest yet most effective tools I share with my online clients is a daily check-in.
We communicate through WhatsApp and I have them send me a quick text or more often audio message every day.
I have them message me (instead of me message them) because of the increased autonomy they gain from doing the habit themselves.
They give me a detailed “play-by-play” of their day including their workouts (did they do it or not and any notable fitness records), their nutrition (what they ate, why they ate what they ate, and any questions/challenges/wins) and any other details.
This keeps motivation and accountability high while allowing them to constantly be aware of what they’re doing well and what they can improve upon.
The best part about this habit is that while they are checking in directly with me, they’re also checking in with themselves. My goal is for them to always check in with themselves daily.
If you don’t have someone to check in with, I recommend you start a daily journal practice (if you don’t have one already). It can be in a physical planner, on a computer document, via voice or video recording, or a combination – but a daily check-in is a powerful habit that will compound exponentially as time passes.
If you want to check in with me daily as a client, email me (harris@coachedbyharris.com) and we’ll chat about how it all works plus can hop on the phone to go into further detail.
