How To Build Confidence (Through Fitness) | 021

by | May 20, 2020

I believe that true confidence is earned, not given.

I believe that true confidence is built, little-by-little, through our repeated actions, not simply by achieving a particular metric or accomplishment.

I also believe that confidence is not an all-or-nothing trait.

It’s not a “have it” or “don’t have it” trait. You can always earn more.

I was incredibly insecure in my early years.

I changed dramatically. Not linearly, as my confidence has gone up and down in waves, but over my lifetime it has been net positive.

I’m not done growing yet.

And neither are you.

Your confidence and self respect are boosted when you make a commitment to yourself or others, and stick to it.

In the pursuit of weight-loss for example, you may think that confidence comes as a result of losing x amount of weight.

As if, the scale being down exactly twenty pounds will result in your confidence going from little to lots, right away.

Do you really think weighing twenty pounds less, in and of itself will automatically make your self-esteem soar? It won’t.

But, if the process of losing x amount of weight requires you to commit to more exercise, eating healthier, prioritizing sleep, improving relationships, and actually sticking to those commitments… your confidence will rise. Quite a bit most likely.

Please remember this when you set a goal.

Please remember this when your progress doesn’t go as planned.

Please remember this when confidence seems like a million miles away.

You can increase your confidence today. Literally right now. Make a commitment to yourself and stick to it.

Say you’re going to go to the gym and actually go to the gym, whether you feel like it or not.

Say you’re going to cook at home instead of eating out and actually cook at home, whether you feel like it or not.

Say you will commit to something everyday and actually do it.

Whether you feel like it or not.

You will thank yourself like never before. That I can promise you.
