Are You A Procrasti-learner?

You don’t need any more information to progress.

I’m a huge advocate of continued education and surrounding yourself with new knowledge.

Understand, however, that there is a fine line between learning with the intent to progress and learning with the intent to delay taking action.

Procrasti-learning seems like a suitable term.

You know what i’m talking about don’t you?

Those moments when you’re right on the verge of doing something productive, only to sit back down and google search the topic in hopes of getting motivated to take more action.

I’ve done this so many times.

I’ve felt a lack of motivation to go to the gym probably a 1,000 times. Just like you.

There are many moments where I simply could have gotten up and went to the gym, but decided to go on the internet and throw myself into a rabbit hole of motivational YouTube videos.

Why do we do this?

Many reasons.

Largely in part to the fact that it feels a hell of a lot better to be motivated and excited than it does to be uncomfortable.

So when we are faced with something that seems productive and motivates us, we do it; even if that thing is reading yet another article to procrastinate from actually getting something done.

Want to improve your nutrition?

You know what to do.

Drink more water.

Eat more fruits and veggies.

Have 1 donut instead of your usual 2, or just none at all.

Want to improve your fitness?

Go to the gym for 30 minutes if 60 is too much right now.

Check your daily step count and start walking 10% more.

Want to improve your relationships?

If you have a toxic friendship or relationship, over-communicate to them and work it out, or end it if they’re unwilling to try.

My point is this.

Education is massively important.

New ideas and hearing the same idea in a new way can catalyze action.

But. And this is a big but(t).

The solution to most of our struggles is already in our own minds.

We know enough to make massive improvements in every area of our lives.

The smallest and most basic steps, stacked over time, can result in huge changes.

So yes, keep learning. Keep reading. Keep listening.

But stop procrasti-learning.

Little things add up and you absolutely know enough to start making a change right now.

No need to wait.

Get to it.
